During last year’s election we witnessed the rise of a man from the most obscure background and with the least credentials.. A man with the shortest time on record, or close, as a United States senator. One whose only other contribution to society was as a community organizer. He quickly dumped his family’s questionable”pastor” and was readily embraced by most, if not all left-leaning ideologists.
Since his election in January, 09, many of us have stood by in shock as Obama quickly began reinventing America and it’s Constitution. Soon we may no longer be able to recognize our own homeland! True, Obama inherited quite a mess, but I fear he is using this to change not only our beloved country, but the whole world! God help us!
It does appear that the whole world is following after this man. I’m not sure he is the “one” the Bible warns us about–but, I don’t want to be around if there is another more egotistical, commanding and blasphemous “one” than this man! We know that as believers we are the only thing (i.e., the Holy Spirit within each of us) holding ”that one” and this deluded world back from complete and utter deprivation.
Still, we have been witness to the world as it continues to grow in it’s obsession with Obama. We know that “that one” will cause even more fervent abandon because hearts have been darkened to the Truth. The world will simply choose to believe a lie.
Sadly, many live in areas like the surrounding counties of San Diego. Few churches and fewer true believers. Would you believe that Christians from other countries are coming to America to evangelize??? Well, they are!
Many only know of our Lord, Jesus Christ because they hear His beloved named blasphemed over and over again. Our society (and we have to accept responsibility for this also) has allowed the (at first) slow, but steady, progressive acceptance of all sorts of depravity. Soon it will be “anything goes” because the world will not believe that sin truly exists. The world will simply believe that we “Christians” and “Jews” just made this all up. So, it will be, “Get rid of the trouble makers!” Interpret that as you will.
The Bible tells us that in the last days there will be a great falling away. I believe that is what we are witnessing. Never would I have believed to see such evil, such blasphemies over the airwaves, television, movie theaters. Even Fox News has fallen into this and on the Hannity show to bout! I have twice now seen a commercial for “male enhancement” talking about “making love-making more pleasurable, etc.” before 9:30p. True, this may be a local commercial, still it speaks so clearly to what this world is all about–money, sex, pleasure. Are we truly surprised? (P.S. If I hear another Viagra commercial I think I’ll scream!)
Worse, I fear there is little out there that would make this world at least consider a true heart change, a true repentance that would have them panting after the Living God. The gospel has been so watered down to a feel good about yourself message. (We might as well all turn on Oprah!)
Many preach that Jesus will make everything better, bring prosperity–health, etc. Well, we know that Christ never made such a statement or guarantee, but we do know that Jesus’ offer to all is eternal life and peace in the midst of our circumstances–which far exceeds anything this temporary dwelling place called earth can offer. But, who wants to hear that in this “All About Me” centered life?
In truth, you and I both know that following Christ is one of the hardest things to do. His call exceeds far beyond the Ten Commandments. He calls us to love. Love of God (Yahweh–I AM and His Son, Jesus Christ), first, foremost and above all else. Then, love for others as we love our ownselves.
The 60′s was a horrible era. It was the “God is dead” and “Love the One You’re With” mind-set. Sex, drugs and rock ‘n roll, baby! People acted as if they were mad! The 70′s were no better. I wasn’t even saved until 1970, and I still hated this era! Riots in the streets. De-segregation. (A very good thing, but, boy, all the anger that resulted was so frightening. Understandable, but frightening all the same!)
Are we all insane??? Those same crazed 60′s and 70′s revolutionaries are the very ones running our government today! Is there any wonder our world is in such turmoil? Spoiled brats, everyone of them–and that the best thing that I can say!
If the church is failing the world, then the truth of the matter is it may well be up to individual believers like you and me to stand firm, shining the life giving light of Jesus to this lost and dying world. We are His ambassadors and we must be praying for opportunities to share the good news of God reconciling sinners to Himself though the blood of His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ. We must lead others to the cross!
Let’s have those home Bible studies. Let’s have those Backyard Bible Clubs! Get to know our neighbors. Have servant hearts and look for opportunities to reach out where we are!!!!!
And, by the way, let’s look like we are actually “happy” to be going to church on Sunday mornings! Let’s live the LIFE!
