A couple months back I was sitting in the hospital waiting room. Directly across from me was a woman reading the new book, “Heaven”. I had hoped to strick up a conversation with her, but she was pretty intent on reading that book. (No, I’m not recommending it. Truth is, I don’t think anyone could write a book on heaven that I would believe. Why? Because Jesus has already told us we cannot begin to conceive of the wonderful things He has planned for us. That’s enough for me to wait for the real thing.)
I was reading Max Lucado’s new book 3:16, when suddenly this gentlemen comes and sits down beside me. He asked what I was reading and I explained the book to him. We spoke briefly about how terrible our world had become. I must have mentioned that I was not afraid of the surgery before me and that if God wanted to take me home that was okay because I was weary of this world. Clear as a bell, this man said to me, “I’m waiting on the rapture!” Now, this man was probably 65-75 years of age. I was awed!
If this man could continue to have hope and hold on, well I guess at 55, I could, too!
Funny, as soon as he uttered those words, he rose and left. His name wasn’t called, my name wasn’t called. He just left. Hmmm.
