A Psalm for Linda (2001-2003)

(This psalm was written just prior to my best friend’s passing — I would like to have this read at my funeral.)

Thou, O, God, are the Keeper of my soul.
As a dove quivering in Your hand,
I am made to be still.

Your tender embrace comforts me.
Your heartbeat is ever so near.
I am covered by the softness of your breath.
Your quiet whisper is known to me.

O, Lord, I love to be in your presence.
My heart leaps at Your appearing,
Rejoices at Your return!
Yea, my soul is quickened at Your Word!

Come! Let us run barefoot through the dewy grasses!
Like young deer we will drink by the crystal waters.
We will rest in safety.
Good fruit shall be our portion.

Thy name is Peace.
Blessing is upon Thy lips.
Thou art above me,
I am drawn to Thee.

O, God!  My God!  You are the Keeper of my soul—forever!
